 General Manager

While we were very pleased to have recently welcomed Vladimir to the HV Power family, it was with great sadness that we learned that Stewart (Farr) had chosen to move to Australia with his young wife. Stewart joined our company a few years ago after completing his degree as a graduate engineer to provide technical support for our products, and more recently due to his wide ranging skills, took on sales responsibility for selected regions. Stewart is a very capable and enthusiastic person and I am sure you will all join us in wishing Stewart all the best for his new career across the ditch.

Now that Stewart has departed from New Zealand, myself, Gideon or Geoff will be pleased to support you with any ongoing issues.

  Power System Resource Document

PEG imageThe 5th edition of the “Power Engineering Guide” by Siemens is now available online. This fundamentally revised and updated new edition of ‘PEG’ is a manual for everyone who is involved in generation, transmission and distribution – from system planning, to implementation and control. The guide is a very useful reference document designed to assist engineers, technicians, planners and advisors. Its content also supports continuing education in technical fields.

The guide is organised by product and function, and covers the entire portfolio of Siemens products for the transmission and distribution of electricity –including high, medium and low voltage, switching substations and transformers and switchgear. It also covers solutions in the areas of protection systems, automation, energy management and network communications, as well as service and support.

  2008 Customer Survey

Our thanks go out to all who participated in the HV Power Customer Survey. It’s rewarding to receive such positive feedback, and important for us to know what areas need improving. We’ll be implementing some of your suggestions in the weeks ahead.

The three prize winners have been notified. Congratulations to them, and better luck to the others next time.

DNP 3.0 to DNPi, Serial to Ethernet Converter

DX40The GarrettCom DX40 serial device router was featured in our August 2008 newsletter. While typical applications for serial device routers require the PC to operate redirection software, for DNPi or ModbusTCP, this is not required.

RTU and other devices that support DNPi (or Modbus TCP) can talk seamlessly via the RS232/485 ports to TCP device/RTU without redirection software.

As the DX40 provides multiple functions, HV Power have documented the steps to get your DNP3.0 to DNPi application up and running fast. The DX40 also features built-in routing for increased security. Contact us for details.
