Siemens is one of the world’s leading suppliers of protection equipment for power systems.

In New Zealand, protection and control IED products from Siemens Energy Automation division are distributed by HV Power. These products not only include the SIPROTEC brand of numerical protection relays, but also the REYROLLE brand of relays and test blocks.

Around the world, almost one million SIPROTEC relays ensure first-class performance in generation and on transmission and distribution networks at all voltage levels.

For many years, Siemens has led the development of protection technology. In 1985, they were the first to manufacture a range of fully numerical relays with standardised communication interfaces – and more recently were the first to implement the IEC 61850 standard.

The SIPROTEC range of devices offers a solution for practically all protective relay applications. Their success is the result of a relationship between an innovative expert of protection relaying, and the market leader in easy to use automation - Siemens. Integration is not an issue with SIPROTEC devices, as they have proven in the field to be very flexible.

SIPROTEC 4 relays support a broad range of communication protocols, such as; IEC 60870-5-103, DNP3, MODBUS, PROFIBUS … and the international standard IEC 61850.

SIPROTEC 4 family A variety of units ranging from overcurrent-time protection for medium-voltage applications, to distance and differential protection for extra-high voltage applications. All units have control functions and offere a variety of communication possibilities. They have a large number of integrated protection functions, from which you can easily select those required for your specific application.
SIPROTEC Compact ('80 series) The SIPROTEC Compact units offer: Advanced functionality at minimum space. The SIPROTEC Compact relays provide a functionality almost equal to SIPROTEC 4, but in a compact size. High adapatability via pluggable current and voltage terminal blocks, and exchangeable communication modules. A quick data acquisition is available through USB front port.
SIPROTEC '600 series When the full functionality of the SIPROTEC 4 family is not required, the SIPROTEC '600 series is a cost-effective unit, especially for use in industry or power supply utilities.
SIPROTEC easy series For simple applications, the SIPROTEC easy series offers: High quality at a good price Simple setting via dip switches (no PC program required) Easy mounting due to compact housing Current transformer (CT) powered, or auxiliary voltage supplied version available Condensation-proof version available
