Transformer voltage regulators and temperature controlsWe recommend the REG-D and REG-DA series of voltage regulators for the control of transformer tap changers. They are New Zealand’s most popular voltage regulators, and are in use on all major NZ utility networks. While there are other solutions, Reg-D/DA is the benchmark in reliability and performance. Our regulators support simple voltage regulation - on single transformer applications through to the complex control of multiple parallel transformers. Temperature controls can be integrated into the Reg-D and Reg-DA regulators when you specify the TMM option.
Resonant earthing and earth-fault detectionIn New Zealand and Australia, there is an increasing demand to reduce the number of supply interruptions experienced by consumers. For Network owners there is also a statutory requirement to meet minimum SAIDI and CAIDI standards. One way of substantially improving these is to be able to operate the network safely and in continued operation in the presence of earth faults. Resonant Earthing solutions are now engineered and delivered as complete systems for New Zealand and Australian utilities by HV Power. Utilising products from A.Eberle and EGE, a Petersen coil is connected between the neutral point of the supply transformer and earth. This is controlled by the REG-DP/DPA controller which tunes the coil to match the system capacitance, thus compensating the fault current. Each feeder circuit is monitored by an EOR-D relay which detects earth- faults on the system and provides feedback via through SCADA interface to the network control centre. Substation automationSubstation management systems, bay controllers and data concentrators are offered as part of the Siemens product line. With Siemens leading the industry on implementation of IEC 61850 IED solutions, HV Power have a substantial expertise in the practical implementation of this ground breaking industry technology. HV Power can provide expertise to integrate connectivity of multi-vendor IEC 61850 and legacy protocol equipment. While we recommend the use of IEC 61850 where ever possible due to its efficiency and power, we are also well versed in the implementation of IEC 103, DNP3 (serial and Ethernet) and web based systems.
Time synchronisationWe provide GPS clocks (time code generators) for the synchronisation of IED’s using IRIG or NTP connections. We also offer programmable outputs for the synchronisation of equipment requiring one pulse per second (1PPS) or other types. Tekron International are the world leader in timing applications for the substation environment. We also offer dedicated NTP (Network Time Protocol) servers for the synchronisation of computer network equipment, such as SCADA master stations.

Hardened EthernetWe offer industrial networking solutions for the factory automation, power utility, telecommunications and temperature-uncontrolled, outdoor locations. Electrically hardened and offering extended temperature ranges, these products are suitable for network-critical applications. We offer the latest in support of various optical fibre circuits, 10baseT, 100baseT and Gigabit circuits (fibre and copper). Power-over-Ethernet (POE), DNP, DNPi, IEC 61850 and many other protocols supported.
